Nutrition Complete App Reviews

Very simplistic Interface

The database is apparently quite large, but there is no way yet to browse through it. All you can do is to enter a search term and wait for the results of the database. To browse the categories by name or nutrition amounts would be really helpful. Alltogether there should be more delivered for the price.

Good database but.....

for me as an older user, I find the font a bit small with no way to adjust it. Also I have a problem reading the text which is in dark grey on a black background. If there is a way to change this I would be very happy as it is extremely difficult to read. The other thing I dont really care for is the unit sizing. There is a sliding scale again it is difficult to change this to the exact portion you want. For instance I checked a cereal which showed a unit size serving as 0.75 cup. I only use 0.5 cup and it was very difficult to slide the marker to get to that figure. Maybe it is just me, but I have used another software where it allowed entry by keyboard for portion sizes which is much easier. I am wondering if there is a way to enter ones own nutritonal data from packages into this program. I havent explored it enough yet to find that out. Looking forward to updates to maybe help with these problems. Thanks.

not worth the money

Frustratingly limited choices of foods and servings. I found it next to useless.

Nutrition Complete

This app was very disappointing. Useless for my needs. The nutrient information is available free on the internet. I thought the app would show daily totals of nutritents etc. Also not user friendly!

more bugs and coming

- long entries do not fit and cannot be read (!!) - favourite list cannot be organized by categories or alphabetically - fonts way too small - grey fonts do not read on black background

Please write review about the app itself

It seems to me that many reviews of iPhone apps have nothing to do with the apps. People just like to whine about the price tag. You can afford 100 bucks a month for your phone, but not 5 bucks for an app? You spend that much on a coffee at Starbucks! Yes, if you spend time looking at the web, you might find nutrition data. But then, why not just getting rid of your iPhone since you can make phone call on the web for free, too! Whats the point? If you have not bought the app and have nothing to say about the app itself, dont even comment on it.

People will pay for convenience!

Some people say information should be free... well it SHOULD be... so long as the person finds the information himself. As soon as the person requires help to gather that information, it is no longer "free". So I applaud this application for giving the ordinary person great access to the food charts, nutrition, etc from the FDA. Not only it is great for people who want to live a healthy lifestyle, its great for people who want to track their caloric intake :) And no other application Ive seen so far gets this information down, so lets see you write one and give it away for free... not so easy compiling the information, is it? Anyway, quick pros and cons... if youre still with me. Pros: Quick and good interface :) Great information and great database. Cons: For some people, it may not be worth it to pay $5 for their health have to look up stuff manually, cant scan barcodes :( Still, I can see this app is pretty good considering its just barely a month old... so I give it a 5 stars :)

Good job

I believe there are many people who are concious about what they are putting in their body; this app is exactly what Im looking for. My only suggestion up to this point is linking the different vitamins, minerals, etc from search results to a database (wikipedia or whatever) that explains what they are good for and what they do for your body.

Needs an update

Search feature needs to be tweaked. The feature that changes the portion size is great but needs to be refined and easier to control. Would love it if there were more food items added. Please fix the spelling on "suger".

Not good

This is not what I thoght it was . I thought it would total my daily everything. I wanted to keep track of my dailey intake of protein etc. I dont want this at all . I want my money back.

Database but doesnt let you count calories for the day

Seriously, is it so hard to have a database of nutritional info *and* a way to tally those calories up for the day? I bought Track-A-Meal only to find out that you have to already know the calories of everything you enter. Then bought this one only to find out it does not let you count calories up, only tells you the calories of an individual item. So, I guess Ill have to go back and forth between the two -- how lame is that?

Great resource so far,

I was recently placed on a medication called coumadin and told to be careful about eating foods with vitamin K. Its hard to know the vitamin K content on most foods. This app takes away the guess work. You can narrow down the setting to include your nutrients of interest and adjust the portion size. I would think this would be useful for people on other restricted diets ie. gout, low sodium or potassium. My only suggestion would be to include more foods.

Registered Dietitian Comments

As a nutritionist with a masters degree I can tell you this app will not reliably tell u nutrient content of basic foods. I searched "avacado" in the "all foods" category and nothing was found! This is just one example of a basic food not found in this database. So DO NOT waste the $5 on this app!!!! 

Dont buy this

Worst database and search engine. Youre better off googling the info you need. They should donate 4.99$ to charity for each bad review they get, maybe it would balance the universe somehow.

pretty good

This is the most complete nutrition database Ive yet seen. Although it is true that I can not find "avacado," (see 1 star review below) I was able to find avocado with no problem. Id like to be able to browse, rather than just search, but all in all, this application does what it says it does.

Coumadine User Also

I was so pleased to see at least one Heart Patient and Coumadin user wrote a review. That is precisely what I was looking for, for myself. I have had 2 heart valve replacements in 4 months and it is vital that I assist my heart in working without strain. Along with other meds, Coumadin is vital and "you are what you eat" when managing a heart related challenge. Just remember Weight Loss calorie counting and Nutritional values are two seperate issues. There are many health challenges that have nothing to do calorie counting.

Terrible App

Not a helpful app at all!

Disappointing

Do not buy

Just what I was looking for.

I am a personal chef and I provide my clients with the protein, carb, and caloric values of each dish. This app makes that so easy! It has all that information and sooo much more. Super satisfied!

Doesnt Have all essential vitamins

My major criticism is that the application doesnt list the vitamin D content, more specifically vitamin D3 content in foods. Anyone whos well read knows the importance of vitamin D in bone health and cancer prevention. My other issue is that you cant look up foods by nutrtional value. I think if youre looking for some extra magnesium in your diet today, then you should be able to look up "magnesium" and then the application naturally lists the food high in magnesium. Other then that its a good app. But, I dont recomend you by it until they update the application.
